Philippians 4:4-9
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. and the peace of God which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

Happy Adoption Day!!!

A father of the fatherless... is God in his holy habitation. God setteth the solitary in families.. Psalm 68:5a,6a
This is our "gotcha" day!!! Yes, three years ago today, this small, scared Liberian brother and sister stepped off the plane and into the arms of their "new" FOREVER FAMILY!!!! Today Caleb told me he remembers being excited about being in America (notice that he did not say family), but was also scared. When I asked him why he was scared, his answer was: "You all looked funny and were talking a different language. Now the looking funny part I understand, I bet we did look very different from what he was used to. But the talking funny part is interesting since we both supposedly spoke "English", but that just shows that Liberian English is definitely its own dialect!!

To watch my children go from quiet, sickly and scared; to healthy, happy and energetic is an amazing thing. Little Hannah has grown 14 inches!! Caleb has grown 7 inches. But more importantly than growing in stature is the growth in wisdom. We pray that they both grow in their knowledge of their Lord and Savior and choose to follow Him with their lives!

Adoption--what a blessing to our family.

So during this National Adoption Month as we contemplate the meaning for thousands of orphans around the world, let us also contemplate the beautiful way that we have been adopted into the Lord's family.

"For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father." Romans 8:15
