Philippians 4:4-9
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. and the peace of God which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

Marathon Training Continues!

So David and I both continue to train for the Portland Marathon. David is trying to run a Boston qualifier time--I on the other hand would just like to finish!!
On Wednesday evening at 7:30 I took off for a 14 mile walk alone at the end of a 100 degree day! I was able to keep a pretty good clip going both walking and running while listening to a John Piper Biography on the MP3 player.
David met up with me at about 7 miles as it was getting dark on the bike. He went the next two with me to the track and then walked and ran 4 more with me on the track and escorted me the last mile home. 14 miles in 2:57. I was happy with that.
I did end up fairly dehydrated and all the fun symptoms that comes with that for the next 24 hours. Need to take Gatorade as well as water next time.
David and I got up to get Drew out to Steens Running Camp at 5 this morning. We then headed out for a 20 mile run, him on his feet and me on the bike this time for moral support. Saw some new parts of town and watched the city wake up! Even after his hard run yesterday he got all 20 miles in in under 8 minute miles for each mile for a total time of 2:40!! Yes he did 6 more miles than me in less time! I am excited for him, not only do I get to go to Boston too if he qualifies, but to see him able to run is pure joy for my heart. Praying God gives him many more years of running.

HEY!!! Marathons are good to show people that you can do something not very many people can ;-). I've only 2 half-marathons, but I'll do a full one soon! Good luck on your Boston Qualifier Time David!!!
