James 1:27
Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: To visit orphans and widows in their trouble...
So you hear a lot on this blog of the orphan part of this verse--Praise God they are orphans no longer!!!
But what you don't hear much of is the widow part, which is another facet of our lives. Since David's parents live overseas (see sidebar) we, along with a daughter here, have primary care of his grandmother, Mae. Overseeing a 90 year old has some similarities with the 9 year old in our house--LOL! You really are never 100% sure of what will come next with either one! Keeps life interesting.
I love having Grandma as part of our daily lives. Some days like today it definitely takes more time. So today I am praying for patience, as she does not hear well, so her information is sketchy. She is very unsure of herself, so I will need to do some interventions with insurance and hearing aids in the next few days. Praying for some answers with her hearing issues--whether we can improve her hearing or whether we have the best option she will be able to get--we just need to know. Helping her to understand what cards she needs for insurance purposes and find said cards if she has lost them.
All in all, just a little more leg work for a lady who is a wonderful example to me of contentment, kindness, and encouragement. Not much to give for what I give in return. Lord, help me remember that when I am tempted to be rushed with her.
Philippians 4:4-9
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. and the peace of God which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
