Philippians 4:4-9
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. and the peace of God which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

Hearing or Not?

We decided we better rule out hearing issues with Caleb. I was 90% sure the issues are LISTENING and not HEARING!! But when you are not sure of history on a child it is always best to be on the safe side.

Results---

Caleb makes a TON of EAR WAX!!

Are you grossed out yet??

She pulled an enormous amount out of his right ear, which she said may have been somewhat affecting his hearing in that ear temporarily. The left ear did not have as much, but it was very hard and very far in, and causing a lot of pain to try to remove. She tested the ear and sound was getting through because there was not as much. We left the wax and I will try to get it softer and flush it this week and she will check it again for me next week to make sure it is out.

As for the actual test results---

He hears great!!

Except for very high sounds, which she said could be from loud noises he was exposed to. Such as rockets and shooting--Sad, but true that his early exposures will affect him in more ways than one!

These high sounds are not something we use often, especially in speaking, so no excuses for him not hearing us. It is listening!! But I firmly believe KNOWING is half the battle!! So we go to monthly ear cleanings and listening practice for him!!

Don't you love this picture of him!! I am so very thankful that Caleb is part of our family
forever!!

That is a very handsome pic of Caleb.

Ever tried a few drops of mineral oil to soften the wax? Doing it a few/several days in a row can help it loosen. Have him lay down w/ that ear up for 5-10 min. ea. time so it doesn't just run out. Have fun! :) (Might use an old cover for his pillow too.)
